The Queensland Roar are expecting to have the imposing presence of striker Reinaldo looming in the box on Saturday night when the Perth Glory visit Suncorp Stadium.
The Brazilian was in some doubt to lace up the boots against the Glory after landing awkwardly in the 75th minute of last weekend's 1-all draw with Newcastle, leaving the field in obvious pain.
But the 23-year-old has responded well to treatment under club physio Tony Ganter at Richlands this week and looks on course to recover in time to face the Glory.
"Reinaldo has what we would term as a 'bruising' to his lateral cartilage which was caused from an awkward landing at the game in Newcastle. It's swollen and a little damaged, but it's not torn, which is why he's recovering fast," said Ganter.
"You always hope for the best case scenario and with Reinaldo that's what we have. The early indications are that he'll pull up well from that and he should be there on Saturday to face Perth Glory."
While signs are promising for Reinaldo, things remain in the balance for key midfielder Matt McKay, who rolled his ankle at training at Richlands on Monday and is progressing slowly.
Tahj Minniecon, Ante Milicic and Andrew Packer are waiting in the wings to fill the void, while young striker Michael Zullo has fully recovered from a painful blood blister.
"Matt McKay has seen the doctor and he has a moderate sprain of his lateral ankle ligaments. We'll have to see how he goes in the next couple of days before we can make a decision on him," Ganter said.
The winless Glory are sitting last on the A-League table and their hopes of featuring in the post-season would need to start with a win on Saturday night, while the in-form Roar are sitting just two points out of the top four.
